An elegant sconce made completely of ceramics. The sconce is thrown on the wheel, carefully trimmed, and a structural framework is built within from slabs to mount the hardware, hang the sconce and hide all the electrical.
Inspired by a quote from Jasper Johns “Take an object. Do something to it. Do something else to it." The Jasper sconce is an iteration from my thrown lamp-shades. Taken off the lamp and onto the wall, both the form and the light quality are totally transformed.
The interior of the sconce is left unglazed to reflect the warmth of the clay body.
Dimensions: 12” W x 6” D x 4” H
