Dune Vase in Sand

This vase has an unglazed exterior to explore the texture of raw clay and let the form speak for itself. Tall and stoic, this vase would be perfect for colorful flowers. The interior is glazed in satin black.

Wheel thrown from two sections and assembled to achieve the proper height and geometry. The handles are extruded coils and sculpted while quite wet to retain their shape and not crack. They are then carved to fit the forms perfectly and attached to dry very carefully over a 4-week period.
